" For this portrait, I decided on a very simple
background, which was also the sitters wishes. As the sitter had such a good athletic shape, a busy background would have distracted from the crisp clean line of her figure.
Mrs Murdoch is a marathon runner and chose
an outfit that emphasised her obvious fitness yet retained a casual and feminine softness. She was concerned that a portrait might "confine" her, so we opted for a casual pose rather than a very formal position that would not reflect her personality." |
