"This painting captures a rather fleeting expression that happened early into
the sitting. Not yet entirely relaxed, Chloe was observing me as closely as I was her - if not more so! I thought this slightly wary expression was so natural - adults go to great lengths to hide such feelings of doubt, whereas children are far more expressive in that respect. I liked the warm glow to the left, and the highlighted hair, so included them." |
