Lucy McKie
Lucy creates portraits in a traditional way, painting true to life oil portraits in
a fine art yet moden style. Her aim in portraiture is to always create a
painting or drawing that reflects the sitter's likeness and personality, as well
as capturing those special elements which make the sitter truly "them". She
sets out to create a portrait the sitter and their family will be delighted with
and will always enjoy, and will bring them joy in the future. "I always wish
for my client to be delighted with their portrait, and for them to feel it
reflects not simply their likeness but also their personality and spirit. I have
loved the process of every portrait I've ever painted, and have always been
intrigued and fascinated by each sitter. I set out to show my sitter at their
best - this is not them same as flattery, I simply wish to create a portrait
they will be happy with and one that will record a special moment in time
positively. Ultimately, a portrait is about trust and open communication - the
sitter needs to trust the artist will paint the perfect portrait for them, and the
painter needs to listen carefully to the sitter and their needs.
