This painting of Bishop John was painted from
sittings at Lincoln, and the background features a very attractive section of the Cathedral.
Bishop John wished to be depicted in the way he is;
very pleasant, interested and lively. He was keen
not to appear too formal or distant from the viewer.
He leans slightly forward as though as interested in
you the viewer - this is a characteristic pose of his, as he is genuinely very
interested in others.
We were able to discuss allsorts of varied topics
during the portrait and I found Bishop John a really fascinating person." |
